More than 100 locals have fled to Mizoram State of India after the fighting between the Chinland Defense Force (CDF) and the military council intensified in Htantalan Township of Chin State in recent days.
Many people are still left stranded along the borderline, according to the Zonet (local media in Mizoram.)
There has been frequent fighting between the CDF and the military council, along Khualhring mountain ranges in Htantalan Township.
Due to the fighting, many people have gone into hiding, while some others have fled to Mizoram State. According to the Zonet, the total number of people fleeing to the Mizoram State of India has exceeded 15,000 since February 1st.
Tuipuiral Group President Pu MC Lalramenga from Mizoram State said “Around 60 war victims have arrived in Vaphai village in Mizoram State and more than 300 in Chawngtui village.
Pu K.Lalmuankima Farkawn the Joint YMA ( Young Mizo Association) president said: “Although the government doesn’t allow the entry of war victims due to Covid-19, it has allowed the inflow of more than 100 elderly and mothers who are fleeing from the fighting.”
The president explained, “Due to the Covid-19, we cannot accept the entry of IDPs like before. We find it difficult to receive the IDPs as the IDP camps are full.
If the fighting continues in Chin State, many IDPs may flock to this side. That is why we are planning to build the relief camps in Farkawn, Chawngtui and Vaphai villages.
