According to the Arakan State Public Health Department, from January until June 4, more than 101,000 people in Arakan State were vaccinated with Covid Shield vaccine manufactured by India. During that period the covid-19 has developed a more virulent variant known as Delta and is thought to have driven the deadly second wave of infections this summer in India. It is thought that the Indian vaccine is probably not effective against the Delta variant.
