Kachin State Women’s Network (KSWN) will cooperate with the winning female candidates to deal with women's affairs, said Daw Aung Ja, a member of the network.
“I am very happy with the increase in the number of female MPs. Our network expects the bill on the protection of the women against violence will be approved at the union parliament, in cooperation with female MPs,” she added.
In addition to the female MPs, the network also plans to cooperate with the male MPs. The sitting MPs did not discuss much about female inclusion and gender equality, during the current parliament term. It is a loss to women,” she added.
MP Daw Gyar Hsaing Khaw who is from Injangyang Township said: “I talked about the women rights in parliament. There are reports of child rape cases. I will submit my proposals to parliament.”
In the 2020 General Elections, 10 out of 55 female candidates secured the seats in Kachin State.
