Internally-Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the remote areas in Inganyan and Moemauk Townships of Kachin State are in urgent need of medicine and nurses, according to the mobile medical team, the BackPack.
Mr. Zet, in-charge of the BackPack said: “We get few foods. We don’t get any medicine. There is no nurse here even if we get medicine. The major problem here is health. Due to lack of access to purified drinking water, there are outbreaks of diarrhea. As the weather is unstable, children suffer from cough."
Due to the fights between the army and the KIA, the locals are fleeing to urban areas as well as to the forests.
“Our health workers have many difficulties. We can provide assistance to the IDPs only when we get donations from others. We demand aid from the public. Bwanyaryan IDP camp in Ingyanyan Township is in need of medicine,” he added.
The BackPack is a non-governmental ethnic health worker team based in Kachin State.
