The court has yet to decide whether it will issue an indictment against ex- Arakan State Chief Minister U Nyi Pu, charged under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code on July 9th, said a lawyer representing the ex-Chief Minister.
On June 25th, he appeared in Sittwe Township Court via a video conference. The lawyers from both sides submitted the arguments over whether the indictment against him should be issued or not,” said U Sit Aung Min, a lawyer.
The army firstly detained U Nyi Pu on February 1st and was under house arrest. On February 9th he was arrested for a second time for broadcasting a video which opposed the military coup under the name “A request to the public” on the social media facebook.
On February 15th, U Kyaw Thein, Deputy Head of the Sittwe Township General Administration Department charged him at the Sittwe Township Court, under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code.
