The army has ordered the people in five villages on Vanzang Hill located on the road to the Chin National Front (CNF) headquarters in Htantalan Township in Chin State, to stay inside, according to locals.

“A nighttime curfew has been imposed. Now the army doesn’t allow villagers to go outside the village,” said a local from Htantalan Township.

There are six villages on Vanzang Hill in Htantalan Township. The curfew-imposed villages are Vanzanf, Farrawn, Lungding, Tlangpi and Tlanglo.

The army has occupied Sopum village on Vanzang Hill since three months ago. The army checks people at the entrance/exit gate. The villagers are not allowed to go outside the village, said a local from Htantalan Township.

These villages are located on the road to the CNF headquarters Victoria camp in Htantalan Township.

According to the Ceasefire Agreement signed in the time of U Thein Sein Administration, the CNF opened its office in Htantalan Township, Chin State.

The reason for the issuance of curfew in villages near the CNF’s headquarters is still unknown.

The people believe that the State Administration Council (SAC) aims to bars CDM staff and youth leaders from fleeing to that area.

In late March, around 30 soldiers went to the CNF headquarters and asked for the return of CDM police members.
