Court hearing of Taungup NLD officials postponed to May 27

The court hearing of four people including former Arakan State MP U Min Aung from Taungup Township National League for Democracy (NLD) is re-scheduled for May 27th.

The authorities have filed the case against U Min Aung, Ko Thant Zin Phyo and U Tin Thein Aung from the Taungup Township NLD, under Section 25 of the Natural Disaster Management Law, and Section 19 of the Peaceful Assembly and Peaceful Procession Law and Ko Chit Maung Maung, under Section 505 (a) of the Penal Code.

Although they appeared the court on May 18th, the township judge was absent.

U Min Aung is being detained at LID-544 (Khalaya) while U Tin Thein Aung and Ko Chit Maung Maung are in Taungup Myoma police station.

Two or three weeks ago , Ko Thant Zin Phyo was granted bail for medical reasons and supported by documents, said Lawyer Daw Theingi Maung.

The police arrested U Min Aung, U Tun Thein Aung and Ko Thant Zin Phyo on February 9th for participation in the anti-coup protest and Ko Chit Maung Maung on February 17th.
