The Supreme Court of the Union has summoned 25 persons as respondents including President U Win Myint and Chair of the Union Election Commission (UEC) U Hla Thein to appear before a hearing in a case based on claims of election fraud.
The court hearing is to decide whether the Supreme Court shall issue Writ of Mandamus or Writ of Quo Warranto and Writ of Certiorari, based on claims of high ranking officials in charge of 2020 election, who is claimed failed to respect the law, and were responsible for abuses of the election law.
The cases will be heard via the video conferencing in the presence of three judges as from 9.30 am of January 29th.
The proceedings have been filed on behalf of Thyaysithu U Soe Maung, Chair of the Democratic Party of National Politics and U Hla Thein, Central Executive Committee from the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) against 15 persons including U Hla Thein, Chair of the UEC (Union Elections Commission).
