U Soe Htet Chin State Minister for Municipal, Electricity and Industry, said he was ready to serve as s Chief Minister if the people and the government assign him this duty.

“I have a lot of experience from home and abroad. I understand the needs of the locals to a certain extent. I am ready to perform any kind of duty,” U Soe Htet, who also works as Chin State government spokesperson commented.

Social media has tipped U Soe Htet to become the Chief Minister after the NLD secured 36 of 39 constituencies in Chin State in the election held on November 8.

U Soe Htet added “Amid difficulties we satisfy the needs of locals on behalf of the Union government and the Chin State government and the regional organizations. Normally it is difficult to get to the conflict-hit areas.  I myself encountered attacks. Development tasks and the restoration of peace to such a region are very difficult. Anyway, we need to take a certain period of time to achieve it. I will hold talks with them to change their attitudes. We will achieve success after the fulfillment of requirements.”

U Soe Htet secured the seat for Chin State Constituency-1 in Paletwa Township after winning over the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) candidate U Nan Sike.

Former minister Salai Isaac Khen was replaced by U Soe Htet in 2018, as an external scholar.
