Ta-ang (Palaung) National Party (TNP) discussed 15 points in a talk with the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD), said U Mai Ohn Khaing, General Secretary of the TNP said after the meeting.
On the evening of 13 Th January, the NLD met some ethnic parties based in Shan State. The meeting mainly focused on the ethnic affairs, the federal system and cooperation with ethnic parties.
U Mai Ohn Khaing explained “This meeting was not about coming to an agreement. We submitted the facts as we saw it and the NLD delegation will forward them to the NLD central committee. The NLD discussed its policy towards ethnic peoples.”
He failed to reveal the detailed information about 15 points discussed at the meeting. In general, the meeting mainly focused on how to cooperate with ethnic parties in democracy and federal union affairs. The NLD delegate commented that if similar meetings continue to take place, then expected the talks would achieve success.
The NLD’s CEC members Magway Region Chief Minister Dr. Aung Moe Nyo, Karen State Chief Minister Daw Nan Khin Htwe Myint and Kachin State Upper House MP U in Tone Khar Naw San arrived in Shan State on January 13 th .
On the first day, the NLD delegation held a talk with U Nyi Sein, Vice Chair of the Ta aung Palung National Party, General Secretary U Mai Ohon Khaing, U Khun San Lwin, Chair of Pa-O National Organization, General Secretary U Khun Thein Pe and head of office Saw Khun Kyaw Win.The NLD also plans to meet the Shan Nationalities League for Democracy (SNLD).
As part of its plan to meet with the ethnic parties, the NLD delegation first met the Kachin ethnic parties in Kachin State.
