In defiance of the February 1st military coup, elected candidates from Sagaing Region held the regular session of Sagaing Region Parliament.
The first regular session of third Sagaing Region parliament was attended by the elected candidates who won in the 2020 General Elections, and was held in Monywa Township in Sagaing Region on
February 7th.
At the session, the committee representing the parliament was formed.
Sagaing Region MP U Myint Htwe said: “The first regular session of third Sagaing Region Parliament was attended by 34 MPs in person, 33 MPs via online and seven officials from Sagaing Region government who are released after being detained. Only elected candidates from 21 townships attended today’s session.”
At the session the committee representing the parliament was formed with 25 elected candidates’ Kyaw Htay Lwin, elected Shan Ethnic Affairs Minister for Sagaing Region said: “I attended the session via
online. The elected candidates have carried out the oath-taking.”
