U T Khun Myat, Speaker of the Lower House announced the first-day session of the lower house parliament and upper house parliament are scheduled to take place on February 1st.
The selection of the President, the vice-presidents, the speakers and the deputy speakers of the parliaments should be held at the first regular session of third parliaments scheduled to take place in early February, U T Khun Myat added at a coordination meeting between the central committee for holding the parliamentary meetings, and the working committee in Nay Pyi Taw on January 11th.
The candidates, who secured the seats in the 2020 General Elections, have been invited to report to the parliamentary offices not later than 24 January.
Upper House Speaker Mann Win Khaing Than ,who is also the patron of the central committee , called for cooperation in achieving success of the parliamentary sessions of third parliaments in accordance with better measures for COVID-19 prevention and control methods based on the past experience.
U Tun Aung (aka) U Tun Tun Hein, Chair of the Central Committee and Deputy Speaker of the Union parliament and the Lower House Parliament, called on the attendees to give advice for effectively carrying out the prevention and control of COVID-19 during the parliamentary sessions.
The coordination meeting was attended by the Union ministers for Information, Transport and Communications, Electricity and Energy, Health and Sports and Construction, the Chair of Nay Pyi Taw Council, deputy minister for Home Affairs and secretary of relevant working committee and officials from the parliaments, according to the statement by the Union parliament.
