The TPDF, the first of its kind in Arakan State, composed of all political forces opposed to the military council.
The People’s Defense Force (TPDF) was formed in Thandwe Township of Arakan State on June 7th according to its statement.
The objectives of the TPDF are:
(1) to remove the military dictatorship and to urgently build up a federal democratic union
(2) to carry out and step up effective combat by coordinating with other forces in Arakan State,
(3) to protect the life and property of the people in Thandwe Township from the junta’s troops and
(4) to plan political and military action in harmony with the National Unity Government (NUG),
the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) and the Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) fighting against the terrorist military council.
The people in Taungup, Thandwe, Gwa and Mannaung Townships in Arakan State have also staged the protests after the military coup.
