A 50-year-old man died on the spot in a brutal crackdown by soldiers and police members in 6th-mile model village in Demawso Township in Kayah State, on the afternoon of April 27th.
The victim is U Paw Lu from the 6th-mile Kayaw ward.
A local said: “Villagers saw the security forces move in to remove barricades in front of their houses near 6th mile. I saw some town-elders talking with security forces. I think the negotiations failed. Then four or five police started firing their guns. We had to run away. I heard that two people were wounded by gunfire. One person got a minor injury to the head. Another got six bullet wounds to the abdomen. Four people were wounded by rubber bullets.”
In the previous days, there were no crackdowns on the protestors by security forces in Demawso Township. Since the morning of April 27th, the security forces have started destroying security barricades placed by the public.
Since February 1st, the anti-coup protests continue in Kayah State.
Due to the army’s brutal crackdowns on anti-coup protestors, four people have died in Kayah State.
