Mon State sees seven deaths since the coup

The total number of people killed in over two months’ brutal crackdowns by security forces in Mon State has reached seven, according to local media.

Since February 1 to March 31st, there were 194 deaths in Yangon Region, 165 in Mandalay Region, 41 in Sagaing Region, 28 in Tanintharyi Region, 24 in Bago Region, 24 in Shan State, 23 in Magway Region, 10 in Ayeyawady Region, 10 in Kachin State, three in Nay Pyi Taw and one in Kayah State.

But there have been no reports of casualties in Arakan State.

According to the statement by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) on April 5th, the total number of those people confirmed killed by the military junta is now 570. A total of 2,728 people are under detention.

The country has seen an increasing number of deaths and injuries as the security forces engage in brutal crackdowns on the peaceful protestors using noise grenades, tear gas, rubber bullets and live bullets. Despite brutal crackdowns, people continue to stage anti-coup protests in different forms nationwide.
