The Mindat Civil Defense Force (CDF) has accused junta troops of probable use of chemical weapons in fighting between milepost 30th and 40th on Mindat-Matupi Road in Chin State on May 17th.
A member of the Mindat CDF said that during the course of weapons fired by Tatmadaw troops then something strange happened. “Our members feel dizzy and weakness. They had not been hit by bullets but they fall down and vomit without any wounds. They have great difficulty in breathing.”
There are no clashes in the urban area and the east of the city. But the fighting took place on Mindat-Matupi Road in the west of the city yesterday.
The junta troops use RPG, launchers and howitzers consecutively. The junta recently imposed martial law in Mindat of Chin State.
Mindat is one of several towns where opponents of the military have armed themselves.
For three weeks they have been fighting against local people armed mainly with homemade hunting guns. Dozens of soldiers are reported to have been killed.
The rebels said six of their fighters had died.
Six military vehicles that left Matupi on May 12nd were ambushed. The CDF carried out attacks on them several times along this route and prevented their arrival in Mindat. On May 15th, seven more military vehicles left Matupi for Mindat for reinforcement.
