Many Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Karenni State are suffering from diarrhea, according to the IDPs from the eastern part of Demawso Township.
“The people have to eat unhealthy food and drink unclean water. We have donors. But there are not sufficient medicines,” said an IDP.
He added “Some people have underlying diseases. They always need to keep medicines ready. They face many difficulties when their medicine runs out,” he added.
Due to the intensification of fighting, sick people find it difficult to receive medical treatment.
The IDPs face a shortage of water in the forest. Water is not safe. Children are suffering from diarrhea. The elderly feel depressed by the war, said a person helping the IDPs.
The firing of heavy shelling in Moebye Township in Shan-Karenni border and Demawso Township has damaged houses, forcing the locals to flee to safer places.
The people have to bear the brunt of it when the war has intensified. Now the total number of IDPs has reached around 100,000.
