Kachin State Chief Minister Dr. Khet Aung secured a seat in the 2020 General Election, according to the sources.
He ran for Kachin State Constituency-1 in Myitkyina Township, representing the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD). Currently, the NLD has won the upper house seat, lower house seat, Kachin State parliamentary seat 1 and 2 in Myitkyina Township.
Dr. Khet Aung secured a landslide victory over the candidates from the Kachin State People’s Party, Kachin National Congress Party, the Union Betterment Party, the National Unity Party, Tai-Leng (Shan-ni) Nationalities Development Party, Lisu National Development Party, the Union Solidarity Party and the Public Contribute Students Democracy Party.
There are over 230,000 eligible voters and 140 polling stations in Myitkyina Township. The candidates from nine parties including the NLD competed in the election.
The candidates from 18 political parties competed in the 2020 General Election in Kachin State.
There are nearly 1.1 million eligible voters in Kachin State. Currently the NLD has taken a lead in the majority of constituencies in Kachin State.
