Five candidates from the Mon Unity Party (MUP) who were being detained at Nay Pyi Taw Sebin guesthouse, arrived back at their homes on the morning of February 3rd.
The three elected upper house candidates and two lower house candidates were detained by the army while staying at Nay Pyi Taw Sebin guesthouses and preparing to attend the session of the third parliament.
Naing San Tin, a MUP candidate said: “On the evening of February 2nd, the Tatmadaw informed that all candidates in the Sebin guesthouse could go home.”
Some candidates returned to their towns immediately after the army told them to go home, while some other ethnic candidates went home on the morning of February 3rd.
Candidates from the NLD remained at the guesthouse when the candidates from the MUP went home. The army told all remaining candidates to leave the guest house within 24 hours, according to some candidates.
