Almost all doctors including specialists from Haka People’s Hospital in Chin State launched the Civil Disobedience Campaign (CDC) on February 3rd as they no longer want to perform their duties under the military government and wanted to peacefully demonstrate their opposition to the coup regime.
Dr. Ngan Kyone Lyan, assistant doctor of Haka People Hospital who leads the campaign said: “We don’t agree with the military government. It is not the party elected by the people, and we want to work under the people-elected party. Almost all doctors are included in the campaign. Only four or five doctors were not included in the list,
when we issued the statement.”
“We will carry out the CDC peacefully until the commencement of the people-elected government after the end of the military dictatorship. Despite the CDC, the doctors in Haka People’s Hospital plan to give treatment to the emergency patients. But we will not give treatment to the outpatients. If possible, we plan to refer the patients to the military hospitals,” Dr. Ngon Kyone Lyan added.
The health staffs from the people’s hospitals in Hpalan, Mindat and Teedim Townships in Chin State have all joined CDC movement.
