There was a dispute between the voters and the election sub-commission, at the polling station No.3 in Sao San Tun Ward in Taunggyi Township in Shan State, at around 6.30 am today.
The dispute erupted as U Myat Ko Ko Aung, Daw Wai Wai Aung and a female voter were unable to cast their votes for ethnic affairs minister.
U Myat Ko Ko Aung, a Bamar ethnic voter said: “I am eligible to cast four votes. But I have to cast three votes. I lose my citizen rights. The polling station officer performed the duty without any knowledge. I lodged a complaint about it. The polling station officer did not take responsibility for it.”
Daw Wai Wai Aung, an Inn ethnic voter said: “I am eligible to cast four votes as I am an Inn ethnic. I was unable to cast one vote for the party I favour.”
There are six polling stations and 7,280 eligible voters in Sao San Tun ward.
The Township election sub-commission dealt with the dispute. But the sub-commission failed to reply to the media’s question.
