The discussions on federalism and a federal-based armed forces will become much easier now that the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) has removed all ethnic armed organizations from the lists of terrorist organizations and unlawful associations, said Naing Banyar Mon, Program Director of Federal Affairs and Policy Centre.
On March 17th, the CRPH declared the removal of all ethnic armed organizations from the lists of terrorist organizations and unlawful associations.
Naing Banyar Mon explained, “The removal of all ethnic armed organizations from the lists of terrorist organizations and unlawful associations will facilitate closer relations between the EAOs and the people."
KIO/KIA Information officer Col Naw Bu gave his personal view that “Building up the federal union is in the hands of the public. Armed struggles by ethnic people have lasted 60-70 years. Some Bamar people do not understand our armed struggles. We will only achieve our goal to overthrow the dictatorship if the Bamar people themselves are involved in the anti-coup movement. Without them, we will not achieve success. If the CRPH takes a leading role in lying down the policies in which all parties can participate, we can really achieve success.”
KIO’s Naw Bu added, “It depends on how we lay down the common tasks. We can implement the common goal only when the CRPH performs its tasks and the EAOs can cooperate.”.
In its March 5thstatement, the CRPH has announced the political objectives of elimination of military dictatorship, the release of all detainees including President U Win Myint and State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the achievement of democracy, the abolishment of the 2008 Constitution and development of a constitution based on federalism.
In the CRPH’s statement, the committee considers all arrests and detention under Section 17 (1) of the Unlawful Association Act for engagement with ethnic armed revolutionary organizations in order to fight for national equality and self-determination as illegitimate and condemns all arrests and charges under this law.
The committee expresses its profound gratitude to all ethnic armed revolutionary organizations which are providing care and protection to civil servants who are participating in the Civil Disobedience Movement, against the unlawful orders and mandates of illegitimate military coup council, and the people who are opposing the acts of injustice and violence of the terrorist military coup.
The committee sincerely recognizes records and congratulates all ethnic armed revolutionary organizations, which are making efforts to bring together all brothers and sisters and to imbue them with a strong commitment to the building of the federal democratic union.
