The next court hearing for three persons who were arrested for anti-coup protests in Taungup Township, Arakan State, including U Kyaw Kyaw Lin, Associate Secretary of the Arakan League for Democracy (ALD) is scheduled for May 4.
They appeared in court via video conferencing on April 21st but the township judge was ill and so the court hearing was postponed to March 4th, said U Khin Maung Htay, the lawyer.
The police arrested U Kyaw Kyaw Lin, Associate Secretary of the Arakan League for Democracy (ALD), Ko Min Hlaing Tun and Ko Zar Ni Htoo Htoo on the morning of February 28th while they were preparing to stage a protest.
U Maung Htwee Khaing, deputy head of the Taungup Township Administration Council opened the case against them under Section 505 (a) of the Penal Code.
On March 10th, the State Administration Council (SAC) issued an arrest warrant for U Myo Kyaw, General Secretary of the ALD, for his involvement in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM).
