The people find it difficult to withdraw money from the ATMs in Mawlamyine of Mon State as the banks have not refilled the ATMs since the water festival period, said a KBZ ATM user.

“As it is not convenient for me to wait in line at a bank, I have to rely on the ATM. I am unable to withdraw cash from any ATM in the whole town, as there ATMs have not re-stocked,” he added.

U Min Min Oo who withdrew money from a shop said: “ATMs have no money. I have to pay service charges of Ks-3,000 to withdraw Ks-100,000 at shops. People are expecting the regular operation of banks as there are great difficulties in receiving remittances and the withdrawal of money.”

In addition to the people from Mawlamyine, the people from Chaungsone and Mudon Townships also try to withdraw money from the KBZ ATM in Ocean Center in Mawlamyine and the KBZ ATM in Zaykyo branch.
