The junta’s troops searched motorbike shops and seized more than 200 motorbikes sale centers in Bhamo Township in Kachin State, according to locals.
An eyewitness said: “Soldiers inspected motorbike shops in downtown at around 10 pm on May 7th. First, they inspected KENBO showroom. Then they seized more than 200 motorbikes in a warehouse in Bhamo Township. They took 48 motorbikes and three-wheel motorbikes from the Channyeinaung motorbike shop. Some shops sell licensed motorbikes only. I don’t know if the licensed motorbikes were seized. The military also seized Chinese -made motorbikes,” a witness said.
Soldiers said all seized motorbikes would be returned to owners only after the owners paid taxes.
Likewise, the junta’s troops conducted checks on motorbike sale shops in Myitkyina, Mohnyin and Moegaung Township at the same time, seizing new and old motorbikes.
