The Arakan National Party (ANP) Spokesperson U Pe Than said, “we may break up with the State Administration Council (SAC) if the SAC fails to satisfy the ANP’s demand for several appointments including the Chair of the Arakan State Administration Council and two members.
The ANP’s demands also extend to assistance for IDPs, the reconstruction of houses looted during the two-year war, and paying compensation. We make the seven-point demand in order that the party can solve other challenges on its own,” he added.
There is widespread criticism after the ANP accepted the appointment of Daw Aye Nu Sein from the ANP as a member of the State Administration Council on February 3rd
“We will monitor for a certain period of time whether they fulfill our demands or not. The party will call the CEC meeting soon. The party will make a decision based on the SAC’s actions” he added.
The ANP secured the majority of Arakan State parliamentary seats in 2010, 2015 and 2020 Elections.
The ANP demanded the government led by the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) (2010-2015) and the NLD-led government (2015-2020) to appoint the one from the ANP as the Chief Minister. But the ANP’s attempt failed, U Pe Then said.
