People in Pindaya Township of Shan State said they would continue their protests against the military dictatorship despite threats by the military council.

“We cannot stage the protests for many days here. Yesterday we took to the street. In the past we did motorbike protests," a youth said.

Since the beginning of the protests, youth in Pindaya Township have faced threats.

On May 18th, police members in plainclothes threatened five youth protestors in Pindaya Township to arrest them if they continued to stage protests.

The military council is using different means to ban the protestors in townships of Shan State.

The junta has deployed police and soldiers in plainclothes on the roads.

“We find it difficult to stage the protests. But we absolutely we don’t totally want military dictatorship. The junta cannot be allowed to govern the country. We will fight against it by different means,” said a local from Hopong Township. Since the Feb 1 Coup, nationwide protests have erupted in nearly every ethnic state.
