The rector of the Mawlamyine University temporarily issued an order, suspending 126 teachers from their duties for joining the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM).

The temporary suspension accounts for the absence without leave and absence from duty, without sufficient reason. The university temporarily suspended them in accordance with the Civil Services Law from May 3rd.

The suspended ones are two professors (dean), one professor, 12 associate professors, 93 lecturers and 18 assistant lecturers.

Similarly, Mawlamyine Technological University temporarily suspended ten lecturers under Section 172 of the Civil Services Personnel Law, for the absence from duty and absence without leave, as of May 3rd.

Although the Mawlamyine University reopened the master's degree and fourth-year courses on May 5th, only a handful of students attended the Mawlamyine University.

A post showing the order for the temporary suspension of 95 lecturers from Dawei University in the Taninthayi Region went viral on social media on May 6th.

The junta has recently suspended CDM professors and lecturers from universities nationwide.
