It needs to be understood that federal democracy is a system which can encourage and promote peace, said Ko Tu Yal from Kayah State Democratic Party.
“We want to govern our state. We want to promote the life and culture of ethnic peoples. We shall have the right to freely make our own decisions. The Federal system is not an aberration. It is a system which promotes peace. Without it, we will never achieve the peace we want” he continued.
Ko Tu Yai made this speech in praise of federalism at the anti-coup protest in Phruso Township in Kayah State on April 15th.
He won the upper house seat in Phruso Township in the 2020 General Election.
He demands an end to the dictatorship, the freeing of political prisoners, the abolition of the 2008 Constitution, and the emergence of a federal democratic union. It has been 70 years ethnic peoples first demanded a federal system.
Nearly 1,000 people participated in the anti-coup protest in Phruso Township in Kayah State on April 15. Other townships in Kayah State also saw anti-coup protests.
