Whether there was any vote fraud in the election mainly depends on whether there has been vote fraud committed on the Election Day or not. There is no report of vote fraud on that day, said U Lin Kyaw, Secretary of Chin State Election Sub-Commission.

He responded to the Tatmadaw True News Information Team’s statement over the alleged lists of voter fraud in Chin State.

According to the 22nd statement by the Tatmadaw True News Information Team, there are 44,767 voter list irregularities that could cause have resulted in vote fraud in nine townships of Chin State—6,945 in Haka Township, 8431 in Teedim Township, 3,843 in Hpalan Township, 3,381 in Tunzan Township, 5,768 in Htantalan Township, 4,684 in Matupi Township, 3,558 in Paletwa Township, 2,652 in Kanpetlet Township and 5,505 in Mindat Township.

“Before the election, the sub-commission carried out checks on the voter lists. Names that had been accidentally duplicated were changed to single voter and the lists with no NRC cards were also removed. We corrected the lists in cooperation with the Immigration Department and Ward/village sub-commission. The Tatmadaw True News Information Team checks the lists on its own (without corroboration). We are not obliged to review their data.”

The Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP)a military-aligned party and a military official submitted protest letters to the Union Election Commission (UEC) ‌ against two elected lower house candidates from the NLD in Paletwa and Hpalan Townships in Chin State.

There is no support from independent ethnic parties who regard all the USDP / military protests as self-serving attempts to save face after suffering a humiliating defeat at the ballox box by voters who strongly rejected any return to military rule and dictatorship.

The NLD secured a landslide victory in the 2020 General Elections. But the USDP protested against the election results, citing lack of fair play. The USDP calls on the UEC to hold a re-run of the election in cooperation with the Tatmadaw.
