Arakan National League / Arakan Army (ULA /AA) have been focusing on reconciliation among people from different ethnic groups and religions in Rakhine State.
ULA / AA spokesman U Khaing Thukha revealed it while answering queries on religious harmony from Narinjara News at the press conference organized on 14 June.
“We need to be united under the single identity of Rakhine citizens. We need to nurture communal harmony among all people. The Arakanese people should be united to develop the State,” he added.
Khaing Thukha confirmed that the ULA / AA's current administration in Rakhine State employs Muslims too.
However, he said that it was not possible to disclose the exact percentage of Muslims in the administration. He also added that the strength of ULA governing body needs to be undercover.
Minbya township Islamic religious council chairman Sein Min stated that the discrimination is almost gone under the ULA structure.
“We need to trust everyone. Now the situation has improved a lot. In my 73 years of life, I did not see such a unity. Arakan Amy deserves appreciations. We are also doing the right thing in accordance with our religion,” he added.
During the last summer, under the leadership of the ULA / AA, Rakhine Buddhists and Muslims participated in friendly football matches and other celebrations in various Rakhine villages.
