Security forces arrested two reporters in Myitkyina Township in Kachin State on March 29.

Security forces detained them while covering the news on the anti-coup protest in Ayesaedai ward in Myitkyina Township.

An eyewitness said: “The detained reporters told security forces they should not beat them, as they are journalists. But security forces beat them several times saying, "we must beat more as you are journalists.”

Two detained reporters are:  Ma Chan Bu from The 74 Media and Ko La Yaw from Kachin Waves in Myitkyina. In the previous month, there were two arrests of reporters in Myitkyina.
