Bhamo District Election Sub-Commission has informed the Kachin State Election Sub-Commission that two candidates who failed to submit their election expenses are now on the blacklist.

“We have contacted the remaining two candidates as much as we can. But we are unable to contact them. They themselves don’t make contact with us. The district election sub-commission has sent the letter to the Kachin State election sub-commission to put them on the list of disqualified candidates” he added. The deadline set for the submission of election expenses in Bhamo District was December 12th.

The two candidates who failed to submit their election expenses are: the (Kachin State People’s Party) KSPP’s candidate U Dwae Lar who competed in Kachin State Constituency-1 in Mansi Township, and candidate U Zaw Tun from the Shan Ethnics Democratic Party who competed in the Kachin State Constituency-1 in Moemauk Township, said U Kyaw Thein, the election officer of Bhamo District Election Sub-Commission.

U Kyaw Thein, the election officer said: “The number of candidates who fail to submit their election expenses in the 2020 General Elections has declined compared with the 2015 General Elections. Almost all candidates submitted their election expenses. The sub-commission informed the candidates via letters and by phone, about the submission of election expenses. Around 95 percent of candidates submitted their election expenses.”

There are no candidates who exceeded the legal allowance for election expenses. There are 113 candidates including two independent candidates in the elections in Bhamo District—30 for lower house parliament, 23 for the upper house parliament and 60 for Kachin State parliament.
