The police arrested three young members of the National League for Democracy (NLD) in Taungup Township in Arakan State on the morning of February 17th.
The detainees are Youth in-charge of the NLD Ko Chit Maung Maung from Natmaw village, U Khin Thet and Ko Zaw Win Aung, according to the Taungup Township NLD.
Daw Chit Chit Chaw, a NLD member from Taunggup Township provided more details.” “The police arrested them when they were on the way to Taungup to stage the anti-coup protest. They are being detained at Taungup Police Station. No charges have been filed against them. Currently, the police have arrested U Tin Thein Aung, Chair of Taunggup Township NLD and former Arakan State MP U Min Aung. Their families have lost contact with the detainees.
