The Lawwor National Unity and Development Party (LNUDP) is a political party representing the Lawwor tribe in Kachin State.
The party has made two pledges for the election—the plan to explore and conserve Lawwor literature and culture and building peace in cooperation with other ethnic peoples.
The LNUDP will contest in eight constituencies in Kachin and Shan States—one for the lower house in Lawsaw Township, one for upper house Constituency-9 with the combination of Chiephwe, Ingyanyan and Lawsaw Townships, one for the upper house constituency-12 in Waingmaw Township, one for the Kachin State parliament constituency-1 in Waingmaw Township, one for State parliament Constituency-2 in Moegaung Township, one for the lower house in Kwanlone Township in Shan State and one each for upper house and lower houses.
Youths and females account for 30 percent of candidates. One in eight candidates is female. The educational qualification of candidates is not fixed.
The party has chosen the candidates who are interested in politics, adore Lawow tribes and have a burning desire to perform regional development tasks.
The party’s election motto is “Let’s vote ethnic Lawwow party to formulate a genuine federal democracy,” said U Daung Kham, Chair of the LNUDP.
Ten candidates from the party ran for seats in the 2015 General Election. But the party did not win any seats.
The party has estimated that it has a 70-per-cent chance of winning a seat in the 2020 election. Now the party has more than 10,000 members.
