Lisu National Development Party (LNDP) (Dulay Party) has set a policy for ethnic equality and the welfare of the people,” said U Shwe Min, Chair of the party.

Lisu National Development Party will compete in 29 seats—23 in Kachin State and six in Mandalay Region and Shan State. The party has three female candidates, accounting for 10 percent of the total candidates. The party’s motto is: “Let’s vote Lisu National Development Party enjoy equality.”

Five out of 28 candidates from the Lisu National Development Committee secured a victory in the 2015 General Election. At least 15 candidates from the party are expected to secure the seats in the 2020 General Election.

The party has chosen the candidates who meet the provisions of laws and bylaws of the Union Election Commission and candidates who love Lisu and other people in the region.

The party is not opposed to the involvement of Tatmadaw in the political processes. The party believes that the presence of military MPs in parliament may help to avoid a military coup.

“The 25 per-cent presence of military MPs in parliament is good. This is because our country has many Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs). I think the effort to reduce the military percentage in the parliament is the most difficult task, said U Shwe Min added.
