Police charge anti-coup protestors in Ann of Arakan State with violating the Natural Disaster Law

The police arrested two members of the Chin University Students in

Rakhine State (CUSR) for participation in the anti-coup rally in Ann

Township of Arakan State on February 8th, said Mai Khaing Zin May

Than, Chair of the CUSR reported.

The two CUSR members are Mai Yadana Aung and Salai Min Htike Aung.

They were remanded in custody at Ann Township Police Station for two

weeks.

Following the military coup on February 1th, the anti-coup protests

have erupted in the whole country. The people in Ann Township of

Arakan State staged a peaceful anti-coup rally.

The police arrested Daw Hla May Kyaw, Ma Soe Kalyar Tun, Ma Tin Cho

Cho Htwe and Ko Aung Myo Htut, in addition to two Chin university

students. They are not allowed to meet their families. Ann Township

police station has filed a case against six protestors under Section

25 of the Natural Disaster Management Law.
