NMSP-AD Deputy Leader Views Armed Struggle as Only Path to New Political Future

Nai Banyar Lel, the deputy leader of the New Mon State Party - Anti Dictatorship (NMSP-AD), stated that due to the increasing significance of the military in Myanmar's political landscape, achieving a new political future will only be possible through armed struggle.

He made this statement in the Mon language during the graduation speech for the second batch of NMSP-AD's basic military training, held in a liberated area on June 15.

He stated that the possibility of resolving the current crisis through political means has diminished, making a military solution the most viable option. Emphasizing that military strategy should be the top priority, and strong military capabilities coupled with public support, can effectively threaten adversaries and earn the respect of allies, he added.

He urged that despite any difficulties, it is essential to continuously strive to strengthen the military. He emphasized that comrades who have chosen the path of armed resistance must continue their efforts until victory is achieved.

Aiming to oppose the military dictatorship, NMSP-AD broke away from its parent organization, NMSP, which has a ceasefire agreement with the Junta. After that, it joined the resistance forces involved in the Spring Revolution and declared war on the Junta.

Since then, NMSP-AD has begun arresting Junta-aligned militia units, confiscating weapons, and ambushing police personnel in operational areas.

Among NMSP-AD's armed operations, the conflict in the Gyaing River Basin region, which began with the raid on the Kawtbein police station on the border of Mon State and Karen State, was the most intense and costly.

During the clashes in the Gyaing River Basin, many comrades of NMSP-AD lost their lives, shedding blood and sweat. The Junta deliberately targeted the belongings of the people, carried out arson attacks, and engaged in looting in an attempt to break the revolutionary spirit of the Mon ethnic group.

Nai Banyar Lel declared that NMSP-AD acknowledges the sacrifices of its comrades and the losses suffered by the people, and is resolute in repaying this debt through military victories.

If the armed resistance movement fails to create favorable national opportunities for the Mon ethnic group, it will be remembered as a significant failure in history, therefore, he strongly urged NMSP-AD comrades to give their utmost efforts in the fight for victory.
