A dispute between the candidates from the National League for Democracy (NLD) and the Karen State Peoples party(KSPP) in Kachin State has been solved after an apology by the NLD candidate.
An upper house NLD candidate from during his election campaign falsely accused a KSPP candidate of planning to govern the State in cooperation with the Kachin armed wing the KIA.
U Aung Kham, Secretary of the KSPP in Pulao Township filed a complaint to the Putao District Election Sub-Commission on 24 September.
“The NLD candidate made an accusation against me.U Aung Kham added“ He promised not to do it again. The dispute was resolved on 29th October thanks to the negotiation by the committee.”
Daw Ei Ei Phyo, an officer of the District Election Sub-Commission Office said: “The dispute has been solved after the mediation by the negotiation committee of Putao District Election Sub-Commission.
They signed the pledge in the presence of witnesses. The KSPP will no longer lodge a complaint, as the NLD candidate makes an apology.”
The KSPP is a merger of four parties in Kachin State. It will compete in 18 townships of Kachin State in the 2020 General Election.
