The court hearing for the plaintiff, who opened the case against former Kachin State Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Dar Shi La Hsaing, was held on the morning of March 17th.

Plaintiff U Min Yan Naing Tun, deputy head of Myitkyina Township General Administration Department appeared in court, and departing from all legal precedent, he submitted a social media post uploaded by the former minister as evidence on February 9th.

“The next court hearing is scheduled for March 23rd. The minister’s lawyer will submit the argument to the District court before the next court hearing, objecting to evidence submitted by the plaintiff. It goes against the court’s practice, as it is a copy of words from Facebook,” said U Thet Tun Oo, lawyer of U Dar Shi La Hsaing.

On February 9th, Minister U Dar Shi La Hsaing issued a statement on behalf of the Chief Minister, saying that the Kachin State government designated an office holiday for all civil servants until the formation of the new government and honoured the civil servants who opposed the coup.

The authorities filed the case against him under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code.

Similarly, the authorities opened the case against U Mya Thein, Kachin State NLD under Section 8 of the Export-Import Law on March 16th and Kachin State Social Affairs Minister U Nay Win under Section 25 of the Natural Disaster Management Law on March 15th.
