Nearly 300 candidates in Kachin State lose their deposit money

Nearly 300 candidates who competed in Kachin State lost their deposit money as they did not get enough votes, according to the Kachin State Election Sub-Commission Office.

The candidates have to pay a deposit of Ks-300,000 for the elections at Myanmar Economic Bank (branches). They can withdraw their deposits if they get one-eighth of the votes.

The 285 of 410 candidates who competed in the elections in Kachin State, did not get enough votes.

“There are 199 candidates who can take out their deposits as they get one-eighth of the valid votes,” U Tun Aung Khaing added.

In Kachin State, the candidates from 18 political parties competed in the elections in Kachin State. The NLD secured more than 50 seats in Kachin State, with a 77-per-cent success.
