The Union Election Commission has made provision for persons who are outside the constituencies to cast their votes in the places where they are currently staying by filling in Form-3 (a) and Form-15.

There are nearly 2600 voters who applied to the election sub-commission with Form-3 in Mawlamyine Township in Mon State, according to the Township Election Sub-Commission Office.

The UEC allowed those who are not residents of Mawlamyine Township but have been staying for at least 90 days, can cast their votes

U Htay Lwin, Chair of the Township Election Sub-Commission said: “A total of 2,599 voters applied to the sub-commission with Form-3 (a).”

The voters who apply with Form-3 can submit their applications to the ward and village election sub-commission offices while the voters who apply with Form 3(a) can submit their applications to the township election sub-commission offices.

The applicants with Form-3(a) can only vote for the candidates in the constituencies where they are currently living, on the election date.

The submission of applications with Form 3(a) was accepted between September 17 and October 10. The voters, who are unable to go home due to the COVID-19 restrictions, can apply to the sub-commission with Form-15 till October 25, for voting.

Daw Moe Zin Mar Oo, officer of Mawlamyine Township Election Sub-Commission on October 20, said: “The voters who applied to the sub-commission with Form-15 have started casting their votes since October 19th.”

There are around 1.8 million eligible voters in Mon State. Apart from Bawnawkhee village in Bilin Township, the election will be held across Mon State.
