Local fuel prices continue to rise since the coup

The prices of fuels have increased by over Ks-300 within 100 days since the coup according to local gas stations.

In late January, the price of Octane-92 stood at Ks-655 per liter, Octane- 95, Ks-765, the diesel Ks-695 and the premium diesel, Ks-705.

A manager of a fuel station in Yay Township said: “I have to sell fuels regularly. The fuel wholesalers will sell fuels only when the fuel stations buy additional fuels. We have to resell fuels with the system under which the buyers will have to pay money after the sale. We have financial problems for additional buying.”

On May 17th the price of diesel per liter was Ks-1015, the premium diesel Ks-1025, Octane-92 Ks-1015, and the Octane-95 Ks-1100.

 A taxi driver from Mawlamyine said: “I face many difficulties. I have to temporarily stop my taxi services as the fuel prices continue to rise and the people don’t go outside due to the unstable political situation and hot weather.

The closing local gold price has dropped to Ks around 1,570,000 per tickle. The value of a US dollar was Ks-1680/1705 and the value of a Thai Baht, Ks-50.5/52.5.
