Four candidates from the Kachin State People’s Party (KSPP) have secured seats in three constituencies in Kachin State.
The KSPP secured one State parliamentary seat and one lower house parliamentary seat in Ingyanyan Township, and one State parliamentary seat each in Moemauk and Swanparabwan Township in Kachin State.
U Aung Kham, Spokesperson of the KSPP said: “Dr. Manam Tu Ja chair of the KSPP secured a seat in the Inganyan Township Constituency-1, U Lamar Naw Aung has been elected to the Lower House seat for Inganyan Township, U Swat Naung in Moemauk Township Constituency-1 and U Inshan San Aung in Swanparabwan Township Constituency-2.”
“We are still waiting for the results from Khaunglanphu and Sawlaw Townships,” U Aung Kham added.
The KSPP is a merger of four Kachin parties. The party competed in 67 seats in 18 townships in Kachin State—18 for lower house parliament, 12 for upper house parliament, 35 for Kachin State parliament, one for Shan Ethnic Affairs Minister and one for Bamar Ethnic Affairs Minister.
The KSPP was one of five ethnic political parties that protested over the canceled elections across all ethnic states resulting in 1.3 million voters losing their rights to participate in the election in Kachin State suffered loss of 11 townships many of them were projected to be likely to return more seats for the KSPP.
