KNU Brigade 6 Chairman requests both sides not to turn Lay Kay Kaw Myothit into a battlefield

On December 16, Pado Shwe Maung, chairman of the KNU's Brigade 6, requested the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and junta troops not to turn Lay Kaw Kaw, a token of peace in south of Myawaddy, into a battlefield.

Pado Shwe Maung a letter of request to the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the junta’s forces in connection with the Lay Kay Kaw battle on his social media page on December 16.

The letter reads all armed forces including Myanmar Army, as defenders for the benefit of the people, should not make the place of homeless people into a battlefield.

The letter also said that Lay Kay Kaw Myothit was in a state of disrepair due to pro-war people who wanted to find a solution through armed means.

Pado Shwe Maung also requested of the people who are currently fleeing Lay Kay Kaw to help each other in a disciplined manner.
