The Kaman National Development Party (KNDP) will carry out reforms, and learn lessons from the loss in the recent election, said U Tin Hlaing Win, General Secretary of the party.

“Being a political party, we will compete in the 2025 General Elections for the interest of region and all races. We have experience as a party and we were set up back in 02010. We will reform the party and try to deal with our weak points,” he added.

The KNDP has set five polices. The significant point is this small Muslim party has adopted Our Three Main National Causes upholding non-disintegration of the Union, non-disintegration of national unity and perpetuation of sovereignty —which are upheld by the Tatmadaw (Army), and the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP).

“The first point why the party faced election loss is we are a minority party Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we were unable to go to Thandwe Township where the candidates from our party competed. We could not do canvassing effectively due to the spread of COVID-19. There was of false news doing the rounds.” said U Tin Win Hlaing.

He failed to mention that the mantra of the military known to voters as “Three Main National Causes” were overwhelming rejected by the voters in the 2020 election.

The KNDP ran for five seats in the 2020 General Elections—three for Yangon Region and two in Arakan State. But the party secured no seat.

The party will carry out the politics outside the parliamentary, asking for the needs of the people from the Arakan State government.

“We will continue doing politics outside parliament. As announced during the election period, we will work on promoting the interests of the people, and the social harmony of different ethnic groups in Arakan State.”

The party was allowed to register as an official party on 5 July 2010. The party’s headquarters is located in Yangon.

The KNDP secured no seats in the 2010 and 2015 Elections and has around 4,000 members.

Kaman is one of 135 officially-recognized ethnic groups in Myanmar and their followers belong to the Islamic faith.
