Kachin State Chief Minister and some Kachin State government ministers detained after the military coup, have been released on the afternoon of February 2nd.

Now the Kachin State Chief Minister arrived back at the ministers’ residence and Development Affairs Minister U Naw Li and Social Affairs Minister U Nay Win have also been released. The ministers are ordered to vacate the ministerial residences within three days, said Sai Kyaw Thu Soe, Kachin State NLD executive. The ministers are ordered to remain at home under house arrest.

On February 1st, the Tatmadaw seized power citing Section 417 of the Constitution.

The military claimed the UEC had failed to deal with the Tatmadaw’s allegations of “more than 10 million alleged vote frauds” in the 2020 General Elections.
