The junta’s efforts to solve the current political crisis by violent means may lead to the full-blown civil war General Ywet Sit declared, the acting leader of the Peace Process Steering Team (PPST) of the 10 ethnic armed groups in his opening speech of the PPST meeting on May 27th.

The PPS has based on10 NCA signatories of EAOs who signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA).

The junta’s delay in responding to the appeal to end the bloodshed of the special ASEAN summit held in Jakarta Indonesia on April 24th is a deterrent to any peaceful solution to the current political crisis.

Myanmar will lose its dignity and face isolation in the international arena as a result of the military council’s behavior and the brutal crackdowns by soldiers and police. More than 800 people have been killed and more than 5,000 people detained.

The military council is ignoring international and local organizations’ demands for an immediate ceasefire and an end to all violence, he continued.

“The deteriorating situations in the sectors of politics, peace, administration, economy, commerce, finance, education, social, rule of law and others are due to the abusive and malevolent governance by the military council,” he added.

The PPST held a meeting on May 27th and 28th. The meeting mainly focused on the PPST’s current processes and future tasks.

The 10 NCA signatories are The Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS), the Karen National Union (KNU), the All Burma Students’ Democratic Front (ABSDF), the Chin National Front (CNF), the Karen National Liberation Army/ Peace Council (KNLA/PC), the Pa-O National Liberation Army (PNLO), the Arakan Liberation Party (ALP), the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA), the New Mon State Party (NMSP) and the Lahu Democratic Union (LDU).
