Five civilians were killed and three others severely wounded in fighting between the northern alliance group and the Restoration Council of Shan State/ Shan State Army (RCSS/SSA) in Kyaukme Township in northern Shan State, according to the philanthropic organizations in Kyaukme Township.
The military tension has been growing since the second week of February.
A person from the philanthropic organization in Kyaukme Township said: “After the military coup, there was intense fighting between the northern alliance group and the RCSS/SSA. Due to the fighting, three males and two females were reported dead and three others injured.
Refugees are unable to go home as there have been military tension between the ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) since February. They are in urgent need of food, said the refugee committee.
The fighting between the EAOs has displaced nearly 1,000 people in Namtu Township in Kyaukme District in northern Shan State.
