Kachin State Election Sub-Commission has collected the lists of quarantined voters for advance voting at the quarantined camps in Kachin State.

"Quarantined voters are to give advance votes. The relevant ward and village sub-commission carried out the compilation of quarantined voters at the quarantined camps from October 8 to 14," said U Tun Aung Khaing, an officer of the Kachin State Election Sub-Commission, at an election talk show in Kachin State on October 10.

"We found two patterns when doing the compilation of lists—voters in the constituency, and voters outside the constituency. For the voters in the constituency, the relevant ward and village sub-commission will send two officials to collect advance votes of quarantined voters two days before the election. For the voters outside the constituency, they will have to fill in Form-15. Then officers-in-charge of the quarantined camps will make arrangements for the voting of people under quarantine in the relevant quarantined camps or townships," U Tun Aung Khaing continued.

The sub-commission will send the personal data of the voters who are outside the constituency, to the relevant sub-commission in order to check whether they are included in the lists of voters in the places they stay. The quarantined voters are to cast their advance votes from October 28 to 31 if the facts are correct, he added.

There are 658 quarantine camps in Kachin State. The number of quarantined persons has reached 3,282 till October 15, according to the Kachin State Health Department.

Up to October 15, the total number of confirmed cases reached 81 in Kachin State. Most of the confirmed cases are from Hpakant Township with 53 cases.

The stay-at-home rule has been imposed in some wards and villages in Hapakant Township in Kachin State. The state government has urged people to stay in their homes.

The sub-commission has to scrutinize whether they are included in the lists or not when voters apply to the sub-commission with Form-15. If they are not included in the lists, the sub-commission has to ask the ward and village sub-commission to check whether they are living in the given addresses. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we cannot go to other wards. We face difficulties and delays. It is very difficult when there is a wrong address,” U Aung Kyaw Thu continued.

There are 11 nearly 1.1 million voters, 910 polling stations and 19 parties in Kachin State.
